A sintered bead having:-the following chemical composition, in mass percent on the basis of oxides:-ZrO2 + HfO2 + Y2O3 + CeO2: the balance up to 100%; 0% < = Al2O3 < = 1.5%; caO < = 2%; an oxide other than ZrO2, HfO2, Y2O3, CeO2, Al2O3 and CaO: < = 5%; the present invention relates to a zirconia ceramic comprising-a ZrO2, HfO2, Y2O3 and CeO2 in an amount such that 1.8% < = Y2O3 < = 2.5% and 0.1% < = CeO2 < = 0.9%, in molar percentages based on the sum of ZrO2, HfO2, Y2O3 and CeO2, and-the following crystalline phases, in mass percentages based on crystalline phases and in total 100%:-stabilized zirconia: the balance to 100%; monoclinic zirconium oxide: < = 10%; -a crystalline phase other than stabilized and monoclinic zirconia: lt; 7%.
