The invention provides an additive for improving the workability of concrete and a preparation method of the additive. The additive for improving the workability of the concrete is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 10-20 parts of a slurry purifying modifier, 30-60 parts of a water-retaining agent, 20-30 parts of a dispersing agent and 5-30 parts of water, the slurry purifying modifier is obtained by polymerizing unsaturated carboxylic acid, alkenyl sulfonic acid organic matter and alcohol. According to the admixture for improving the workability of the concrete, all the preparation raw materials have a synergistic effect, the bleeding rate of the concrete can be improved and reduced, the undesirable phenomena such as core piling, bleeding, segregation and stone exposure of the concrete are reduced, and the workability of the concrete is remarkably improved.
