The invention provides an additive for improving the workability of concrete and a preparation method of the additive. The additive for improving the workability of the concrete is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 10-20 parts of a slurry purifying modifier, 30-60 parts of a water-retaining agent, 20-30 parts of a dispersing agent and 5-30 parts of water, the slurry purifying modifier is obtained by polymerizing unsaturated carboxylic acid, alkenyl sulfonic acid organic matter and alcohol.
