An impact damping device comprises: a first energy absorbing member comprising at least one first elongate body and at least one corresponding first energy converter configured to deform the first elongate body in the event of relative movement; a second energy absorbing member comprising at least one second elongate body and at least one corresponding second energy converter configured to deform the second elongate body in the event of relative movement; a plunger coupled to the first energy absorbing member; wherein the first energy absorbing component and the second energy absorbing component may be positioned substantially one after the other; and wherein the first energy absorbing part and the second energy absorbing part are coupled to each other such that when the vehicle impacts on the bumper, the at least first elongate body and the at least second elongate body are at least partially simultaneously deformed by the at least one corresponding first energy converter and the at least one corresponding second energy converter, respectively.
