The invention discloses an automatic water intercepting gate mechanism and a using method thereof. The automatic water intercepting gate mechanism comprises a gate plate which is hinged to the junction of the upstream and the downstream of a water channel in the transverse direction and can intercept water flow through rotation, and the gate plate is provided with a balance weight part which can move in the length direction, perpendicular to a rotating shaft, of the gate plate; and when the flashboard rotates to the downstream end higher than the upstream end under the action of water flow impact and/or buoyancy, the counterweight piece can move from the downstream end to the upstream end under the action of gravity so as to drive the flashboard to rotate to a closed state. The using method comprises the steps of adjusting the floating body, moving the balance weight piece, automatically blocking water, resetting and the like, the process of converting the automatic water interception gate mechanism from a normal water supply state to a water-cut-off and supply-stop state is completely controlled by the height of the downstream water level, electronic devices do not need to be additionally arranged to achieve monitoring and driving, manual participation is not needed, and the cost is low. Therefore, the cost can be reduced, the reliability can be improved, and manpower occupation can be avoided.
