The invention discloses a back silting observation box and an installation method thereof, the back silting observation box comprises a box body, the box body comprises a side wall and a bottom plate, the bottom plate is rectangular, the side wall is connected with the bottom plate, the side wall is arranged around the outer edge of the bottom plate, and the bottom plate and the side wall form a cover-shaped structure; wherein the side wall comprises an inner wall and an outer wall, the outer wall is arranged outside the inner wall, the inner wall is perpendicular to the bottom plate, a first included angle is formed between the outer wall and the bottom plate, one end of the inner wall is connected with one end of the outer wall, the other end of the inner wall and the other end of the outer wall are both connected with the bottom plate, and the first included angle is formed between the inner wall and the bottom plate. The slope ratio of the outer wall is 2: 1. According to the device, the underwater return silt can be collected, manual guarding is not needed, normal channel construction is not interfered, the return silt can be sampled and analyzed, and the silt characteristics are determined.
