The invention discloses a lift car type water pumping system of a water pumping and energy storage power station. The water pumping and energy storage power station comprises a first reservoir and a second reservoir which are independent from each other, close to each other and connected through a water conveying pipe. The water level of the first reservoir is higher than that of the second reservoir so as to ensure enough power generation fall; the water pumping and power generation all-in-one machine pumps water in the second reservoir to the first reservoir in the electricity trough period so as to clean the capacity of the second reservoir; in the peak period of electricity utilization, water flowing into the second reservoir from the first reservoir is utilized to generate electricity; a telescopic water guide pipe connected with the water conveying pipe is connected to the upper portion of the water pumping and power generating all-in-one machine. The water pumping and power generating all-in-one machine is located in a lift car, and the lift car can ascend and descend in the second reservoir to change the height. The working length of the telescopic water guide pipe can be changed along with the lifting of the lift car; a sensor is further arranged in the lift car, and the sensor monitors the relative position of the lift car and the water surface of the second reservoir.
