The water reducing agent disclosed by the invention is prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 30 to 35 parts of six-carbon monomer, 2 to 4 parts of small monomer, 2 to 3 parts of slow-release monomer, 1 to 2 parts of functional monomer, 0.5 to 1 part of chain transfer agent, 0.1 to 0.5 part of reducing agent, 0.1 to 0.5 part of oxidizing agent, 1 to 3 parts of pH regulator, 1 to 3 parts of anti-caking agent and 50 to 60 parts of soft water. Meanwhile, the invention further discloses a preparation method of the water reducing agent. By utilizing the water reducing agent provided by the invention, the fluidity of the gypsum-based self-leveling mortar can be effectively improved, and the flowing loss can be reduced, so that the fluidity retention rate is improved.
