The invention belongs to the technical field of dynamic compaction, discloses a gantry crane roadbed dynamic compaction construction method capable of enlarging the compaction area, and aims to solve the problem of low compaction efficiency caused by the fact that the compaction frequency has to be increased due to the fact that the compaction area is limited due to the fact that the size of a heavy hammer is fixed in the using process of an existing crawler-type dynamic compaction machine. The method comprises the following steps: (1) assembling to form an assembled dynamic compaction structure; (2) selecting a heavy hammer with corresponding weight; (3) starting a winch to hoist the heavy hammer to carry out point compaction; (4) adding a steel plate on the heavy hammer to enlarge the tamping area of the heavy hammer; and (5) hoisting the modified heavy hammer by using a winch to carry out full compaction. The heavy hammer has the beneficial effect of being high in structural stability, a constructor can expand the heavy hammer according to the construction site condition so as to achieve the purpose of increasing the tamping area, and therefore the tamping efficiency is improved.
