The invention relates to the technical field of polycarboxylate superplasticizers, and discloses a modified vinyl monomer, a polycarboxylate superplasticizer containing the modified vinyl monomer and a preparation method of the polycarboxylate superplasticizer, aiming at the problem that the existing polycarboxylate superplasticizer cannot simultaneously and effectively improve the water reducing and slump retaining effects fundamentally. The modified vinyl monomer is formed by an epoxy ring-opening reaction of an epoxy matrix and a modifier, a branched chain or a main chain of the epoxy matrix comprises an epoxy group and a double bond, the modifier is a monomer containing a modified group and a nucleophilic group, and the modified group comprises a carboxyl group and/or a sulfonic acid group. According to the invention, the raw material monomer for preparing the polycarboxylic acid water reducer is improved to obtain the modified vinyl monomer with water reducing and slump retaining effects, and the modified vinyl monomer, the unsaturated polyether macromonomer and the like are used for preparing the polycarboxylic acid water reducer, so that the overall capacity of the water reducer for functional groups can be improved; the water reducing and slump retaining properties of the polycarboxylate superplasticizer are fundamentally improved at the same time.
