The invention discloses a flame-retardant filling particle and a preparation method thereof, the flame-retardant filling particle is suitable for filling an artificial turf, the flame-retardant filling particle comprises the following raw materials by weight: 10-20 parts of a hydrogenated styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer, 10-20 parts of filling oil, 30-60 parts of a reinforcing filler, 5-30 parts of a flame retardant, 1-5 parts of a modifier and 1-5 parts of a toner, the flame retardant is glass beads, and the filler is a filler. The smooth inorganic surfaces of the glass beads enable the glass beads to easily flow in SEBS, the flame retardant property of the filling particles can be effectively improved by adding a small amount of the filling particles, then the effect of difficult ignition is achieved, meanwhile, the isolation effect is achieved, and spreading of the fire behavior can be effectively delayed when the filling particles are laid on the artificial turf. The invention further discloses an artificial turf comprising fireproof artificial grass and the flame-retardant filling particles, the fireproof performance is more excellent, fire disasters can be avoided as far as possible, or life safety can be protected and economic loss can be reduced as far as possible in the fire disasters, and the artificial turf is particularly suitable for being used as the artificial turf in open-air places where people frequently move.
