The invention discloses aluminum nitride ceramic and a preparation method thereof, and relates to the technical field of ceramic preparation. The preparation method of the aluminum nitride ceramic comprises the following steps: S1, carrying out ball milling on aluminum nitride powder, a modifier and absolute ethyl alcohol, washing with absolute ethyl alcohol, and drying to obtain modified AIN; s2, mixing a cross-linking agent component with deionized water, continuously adding a dispersing agent, the modified aluminum nitride powder and tetramethylammonium hydroxide, carrying out ball milling, and adjusting the pH value of the slurry to obtain the slurry; and S3, mixing the slurry and an initiator, and performing vacuum defoaming, pouring, curing molding, demolding, drying, glue discharging and sintering to obtain the aluminum nitride ceramic. The modified aluminum nitride prepared by the invention has excellent hydrolysis resistance, and aluminum nitride ceramic prepared from the modified aluminum nitride powder has excellent mechanical properties.
