The present invention achieves a good operation feeling with respect to opening and closing of a vehicle door by means of a simple device configuration. A vehicle door opening/closing assist device (10) is provided with: an information acquisition unit (33) that acquires information on the opening/closing speed (Vdr) of a vehicle door (14); a door actuator (19) that performs a drive for assisting an opening/closing operation of the door (14); a target assist force calculation unit (37) that calculates a target assist force (Ptg) for assisting the opening/closing operation of the vehicle door (14); and a control unit (39) that performs drive control relating to the door actuator (19) on the basis of the target assist force (Ptg). On the basis of the opening/closing speed (Vdr) of the vehicle door (14) acquired by the information acquisition unit (33), the target assist force calculation unit (37) calculates a standard assist force (Psd), which is an assist force required to maintain the opening/closing speed (Vdr), performs a correction for reducing the calculated standard assist force (Psd) in accordance with a predetermined rule, and sets the corrected standard assist force (Psd) as a target assist force (Ptg).
