The invention provides a road surface inspection system which can efficiently inspect defects of a road surface. A road surface inspection system (1) is provided with: an image sensor (15) that is provided to a vehicle (2) and that acquires image data of the outside of the vehicle including a road surface for use in driving assistance control; an acceleration sensor (12) that is provided in the vehicle and detects the acceleration of the vehicle; a position acquisition unit (18) that acquires the position of the vehicle; and a defect detection unit (31) that detects a defect present on the road surface on the basis of the image data and/or the acceleration, and acquires the position of the defect on the basis of the position of the vehicle acquired by the position acquisition unit. The road surface inspection system (1) also has a server (3) communicably connected to the plurality of vehicles. The defect detection unit is provided in at least one of the vehicle and the server. The server stores information relating to the defect acquired by the defect detection unit.
