The invention provides a walking system of a cantilever bridge fabrication machine and a walking method.The walking system comprises a longitudinal rail, a rail anchoring assembly, a front roller assembly, a rear roller assembly, a jacking portal and a walking traction device, and the walking traction device comprises a front counter-force base, a rear counter-force base, an oil cylinder support, a mechanical self-locking center hole type oil cylinder, a clamping oil cylinder and a pull rod; the front counter-force seat and the rear counter-force seat are fixed at the bottom of the main beam; the oil cylinder support is fixed at the front end of the longitudinal rail; the front roller seat is fixedly connected with an oil cylinder support, a base plate is fixed on the oil cylinder support below the guide rail, a cushion block is fixed on the base plate along the longitudinal direction, and graduated scales are arranged on the side surfaces of the guide rail; an infrared distance meter is installed on a cylinder body of the mechanical self-locking center-penetrating type oil cylinder and faces the front counter-force base, an infrared reflecting plate is correspondingly installed on the front counter-force base, and the infrared distance meter and the infrared reflecting plate are located on the same horizontal axis. The rapid running of the main beam and the longitudinal rail is realized, and the running is synchronous, stable and safe.
