The invention relates to the technical field of engineering machinery, in particular to a road roller walking system and a walking control method. The road roller walking system comprises a frame, a variable pump, a left walking motor, a right walking motor, an oil supplementing pump and a controller, wherein a motor is arranged on the frame; the variable pump communicates with a hydraulic oil tank and is in transmission connection with the motor; an oil inlet of the left walking motor communicates with a high-pressure oil outlet of the variable pump, an oil return port of the left walking motor communicates with a low-pressure oil return port of the variable pump, and the left walking motor is in transmission connection with a left walking system ; an oil outlet of the oil supplementing pump communicates with a control port of the variable pump, a control port of the left walking motor and a control port of the right walking motor; and the controller is electrically connected with themotor. According to the road roller walking system, stepless speed change control can be realized when the road roller walking system walks without using a hydraulic torque converter or a gearbox.
