The invention relates to the use of a grinding additive during dry grinding of steel slag, characterized in that the grinding additive is selected from the group consisting of alkanolamines, glycols, glycerol, sugars, sugar acids, carboxylic acids or salts thereof, superplasticizers, superabsorbent polymers or mixtures thereof. The invention also relates to ground steel slag comprising said additive and to the use of said ground steel slag in building materials.
