The invention provides a pool cleaning robot and a control method thereof. The pool cleaning robot comprises a main body, a position adjusting unit and a driving unit I, the position adjusting unit and the driving unit I are arranged on the main body or connected with the main body; the position adjusting unit is arranged to enable the pool cleaning robot to move back and forth between the water surface and the liquid immersion surface; under the action of the position adjusting unit, when the pool cleaning robot floats to the water surface, the driving unit I is set to drive the pool cleaning robot to move on the water surface. The pool cleaning robot has the beneficial effects that automatic floating and diving of the pool cleaning robot are achieved by adjusting the change of the space volume occupied by gas and/or liquid in the cavity and adjusting the weight of the position adjusting unit, when the robot needs to float out of the water surface or dive, the robot does not need to be manually found and other operations do not need to be manually carried out, and manual labor is reduced.
