The invention relates to a method for draining water, a water supply system and an aircraft. In particular, a method is disclosed and claimed for draining a water supply system (1) onboard an aircraft that supplies water from a central water tank to a plurality of consumers. Water is supplied by a supply pump from a central water tank through a supply line of a conduit system to a plurality of consumables. Each consumer is associated with a supply valve for drawing water from the conduit system. A maximum inner diameter of the supply line is 8 mm or less. The method comprises the steps of closing the supply valves of all consumables, subjecting the supply line of the conduit system to a drainage pressure at the supply pump, and sequentially opening the supply valves of all consumables in order to remove water from the supply line of the conduit system.
