The invention belongs to the technical field of road surface tamping, and particularly relates to a road surface tamping device which comprises a rectangular shell, two rolling wheels on the same side are fixedly connected with first chain wheels, the two first chain wheels are jointly in transmission connection with a first chain, the first chain is in transmission connection with a second chain wheel, and the second chain wheel is fixedly connected with a first worm. The first worm is in transmission connection with a first turbine, a rectangular groove is formed in the upper end of the first turbine, an incomplete gear is rotationally connected into the first mounting groove, a gear groove meshed with the incomplete gear is formed in the side face of the extension plate, a second turbine is fixedly connected to the front end of the incomplete gear, and a second worm is rotationally connected into the first mounting groove. According to the road tamping device, connection of the insertion strip and the rectangular groove can be achieved by adjusting the position of the mounting box, and therefore more labor is saved and convenience is achieved when a road surface is tamped or the device is carried to move.
