The invention relates to a steel structure grid device and a construction method thereof. The steel structure grid device comprises a supporting component, a driving device and a plurality of truss sections. The supporting component comprises a sliding face, the sliding face comprises a mounting area and a moving area, guide rails are arranged on the two sides of the sliding face and extend to the moving area along the mounting area, and the truss segments are driven by a driving device to slide along the guide rails and slide to the moving area from the mounting area. Firstly, a first truss section is hoisted and installed to an installation area, the first truss section is driven by a driving device to move to a moving area, then a second truss section is installed in the installation area, the second truss section is connected with the first truss section, and the first truss section and the second truss section are moved at the same time through the driving device; and the second truss section slides away from the installation area, the next truss section is convenient to install, and the truss sections are installed and spliced section by section and are driven to slide at the same time until all the truss sections slide in place.
