The invention relates to the technical field of road joint cutting, in particular to joint cutting equipment for municipal road construction and a construction method thereof.The joint cutting equipment comprises a supporting unit, a displacement unit, a mounting unit, a cleaning unit, a water spraying unit and a cutting piece, and the distance between edge frames on the two sides is controlled to be adjusted by opening a bidirectional push-pull rod; then an electric sliding block is started to drive a driving wheel to rotate, when the driving wheel rotates, the driving wheel is meshed with a rack plate so as to drive a displacement unit below the driving wheel to move along one side, and at the moment, a cutting knife in a cutting piece is matched to be started to linearly cut the road surface in the horizontal direction; the problems that during cutting, gaps are more accurate and not prone to deviation, cutting gaps are not straight, and the cutting depth is not uniform are solved, dust attached to a cutting knife is blown off through an air blowing pipe, water in a water storage tank can be sprayed and maintained when the gaps are cut through a one-way valve opening by starting a water pump, and meanwhile the cutting knife can be cooled.
