The invention relates to the technical field of gunning materials, in particular to an electric furnace gunning material which comprises the following components in percentage by mass: 30-40% of iron oxide powder, 10-20% of limestone, 10-20% of silica, 10-20% of kaolin and 10-20% of an additive. Limestone accounts for 15-25%; silica accounts for 20-30%; the kaolin accounts for 10-15%; and the balance of additives. Wherein the iron oxide powder is used for providing an iron element and enhancing the melting capacity of the electric furnace; limestone is used for desulfurization and dephosphorization, and the smelting effect is improved; silica is used for improving the smelting efficiency, kaolin is used as a binder, and the formability of the gunning mix is enhanced; the additive is used for improving the performance of the gunning mix. According to the preparation method, the high-quality gunning material with stable performance and controllable quality is prepared by accurately controlling the ratio and the particle size of the raw materials, adopting wet granulation, adding the antioxidant and the wetting agent and other steps, and the gunning material has good fluidity and uniformity, so that the gunning material has better spraying performance and using effect in the spraying process.
