The invention is applicable to the technical field of ultra-light ceramsite preparation, and provides a method for preparing ultra-light ceramsite by using coal gangue and solid waste, which comprises the following steps: step 1, concentrating and filter-pressing coal gangue ore pulp, and grinding to preset fineness; 2, the iron-containing solid waste is crushed, dried and ground to the preset fineness; step 3, preparing an additive, uniformly mixing and grinding to preset fineness; 4, uniformly mixing the coal gangue powder, the iron-containing solid waste powder and the additive powder according to a preset proportion; (5) extruding and granulating the mixed material mixed in the step (4) to obtain a raw material blank; 6, the raw blank is dried; 7, roasting the raw blank in the step 6 to obtain pellets; and 8, cooling the pellets in the step 7 to room temperature. According to the invention, the coal gangue, the additive and the iron-containing solid waste are subjected to chemical reaction, so that the pore structure of the ceramsite is improved, the ceramsite has lower water absorption rate, and the compressive strength of the ceramsite is enhanced.
