The invention relates to an hour meter tamper-proof method and system, an excavator, an instrument and a whole machine controller. The hourmeter tamper-proofing method comprises the steps that an instrument obtains engine working data; the instrument judges whether the engine is in a working state or not according to the working data of the engine and automatically performs hour counting to obtain a first hour counting value; the meter receives a second hour count value from the bus; and the instrument compares the first hourmeter count value with the second hourmeter count value and judges whether the hourmeter of the hydraulic excavator is tampered or not. According to the invention, tampering prevention of the hourmeter of the hydraulic excavator can be realized, and tampering of the hourmeter can be effectively avoided.
