The invention relates to the technical field of concrete admixtures, in particular to a high-water-reduction polycarboxylic acid slump retaining agent and a preparation method thereof. The high-water-reduction polycarboxylic acid slump retaining agent is synthesized by copolymerizing an unsaturated polyether macromonomer, unsaturated carboxylic acid, unsaturated carboxylic ester and a retarder; the water-based adhesive comprises the following raw material components in parts by weight: 700-800 parts of an unsaturated polyether macromonomer, 15-20 parts of unsaturated carboxylic acid, 40-50 parts of unsaturated carboxylic ester, 1-3 parts of a chain transfer agent, 2-5 parts of an initiator, 0.5-1.5 parts of a reducing agent, 10-20 parts of a retarder, 5-10 parts of a pH regulator and 150-300 parts of water. The high-water-reducing polycarboxylic acid slump retaining agent provided by the invention has good dispersing performance, slump retaining effect and water reducing efficiency, and has the excellent characteristics of low mixing amount, high water reducing rate, high slump retaining performance and the like when being applied to concrete.
