The invention relates to a widening structure and widening method of a widening bridge, in particular to the field of constructional engineering.The widening structure of the widening bridge is used for connecting an existing bridge and a newly-built bridge and comprises a stand column, the stand column is arranged between the existing bridge and the newly-built bridge, and a splicing gap is reserved between the existing bridge and the newly-built bridge; the stand columns penetrate through the splicing gaps. The connecting plate is arranged at the tops of the stand columns, bearing grooves are formed in the sides, close to each other, of the existing bridge and the newly-built bridge, the sides, away from the ground, of the bearing grooves are in an opening shape, and the two sides of the connecting plate are located in the bearing grooves correspondingly; the connecting component is arranged on the connecting plate, and the connecting component is used for connecting and fixing the connecting plate with the existing bridge and the newly-built bridge. The method has the advantages that under the condition that traffic of the bridge is not interrupted, normal construction of bridge widening can be achieved, and the widening structure is more stable.
