According to the widened bridge and the settlement compensation method thereof provided by the embodiment of the invention, the upper and lower structures of the existing bridge body and the widened bridge body are separated, only the bridge concrete pavement layers are mutually connected, and the strain detection device is arranged at the top of the bridge floor concrete pavement layer corresponding to one side, close to the existing bridge body, of the expansion joint; the strain value of the bridge concrete pavement layer is detected; meanwhile, the settlement compensation device for the bridge is arranged between the bridge support of the widening bridge body and the upper top face of the bridge abutment, bridge settlement compensation is conducted according to the detection result of the strain detection device, and active compensation of settlement of the newly-built widening bridge body abutment in the bridge widening project is achieved by arranging the settlement compensation device for the bridge; the size of an abutment foundation is not required to be increased or rigidity treatment is not required to be performed on a bridge foundation for reducing settlement of a newly-built bridge abutment, so that the bridge cost is reduced; the device and the component are simple and reliable in structure, no technical difficulty exists in construction, and good economical efficiency, reliability and feasibility are achieved.
