The invention discloses an excavator and a chassis thereof in the technical field of excavator bottom plates, and aims to solve the problem of huge rotation resistance of an upper vehicle part when the excavator runs on a slope section in the prior art. Comprising; when the slope direction of the road surface is approximately overlapped with the uphill and downhill direction, the pitching oil cylinder telescopically drives the slewing bearing mounting table and the base to pitch around the middle frame, the included angle between the axis of the slewing bearing shaft and the gravity direction of the loading part is reduced on one degree of freedom, and then the axis of the slewing bearing shaft is adjusted to be approximately overlapped with the gravity direction of the loading part; when the component direction of a part of the gradient of the road surface is approximately overlapped with the uphill and downhill directions and the component direction of the other part points to the left side and the right side, the at least two pitching oil cylinders unequally stretch out and draw back to drive the slewing bearing mounting table to tilt towards the left side and the right side around the base, and the included angle between the axis of the slewing bearing shaft and the gravity direction of the getting-on part is reduced on two degrees of freedom; and then the axis of the slewing bearing shaft is adjusted to be approximately coincident with the gravity direction of the loading part.
