The invention discloses an underwater groove excavation machine which comprises a pontoon, a transverse operation trolley, a longitudinal trolley and a gravel pump. A sandstone pump longitudinal moving opening is formed in a bottom plate of a pontoon body of the pontoon, and a longitudinal trolley is movably arranged at the sandstone pump longitudinal moving opening; the longitudinal trolley is provided with a sandstone pump transverse moving opening, a transverse operation trolley is movably arranged at the sandstone pump transverse moving opening, and the transverse operation trolley is connected with a liftable sandstone pump. The method has the advantages that compared with an existing excavation mode, the method is beneficial to reducing the moving frequency of the floating pontoon, the excavation of the underwater groove can be completed by controlling the lifting and transverse and longitudinal movement of the gravel pump under the condition that the ship body does not need to move frequently, the consumed time is short, and the operation efficiency is high.
