The water reducing agent is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 50 to 150 parts of modified lignin, 60 to 235 parts of ether unsaturated macromonomers, 5 to 20 parts of carboxylic acid unsaturated micromonomers, 3 to 7.5 parts of an initiator, 1 to 3.5 parts of a chain transfer agent, 0.4 to 0.8 part of a reducing agent, 1 to 5 parts of a pH regulator and 200 to 350 parts of deionized water. According to the water reducing agent provided by the invention, a plurality of active functional groups are modified and grafted through a bio-based material, and the modified lignin polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent with a novel claw-type branched structure is prepared from the modified lignin polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent, an ether macromonomer and an acrylic acid micromonomer, so that excellent neat paste flow and relatively low yield stress are realized, a thick adsorption layer is formed on the surface of cement, a steric hindrance effect is provided, and the water reducing agent has a good water reducing effect. The water reducing performance is excellent, and environmental protection is realized.
