Method and apparatus for producing lime or calcined dolomite
A method and apparatus for producing lime or calcined dolomite, the method comprising calcining a calcium-containing or dolomite-containing material in contact with a first flue gas obtained by combusting a fuel with an oxidizing gas, cooling and discharging and collecting the calcined lime or calcined dolomite, and releasing a gaseous effluent comprising CO2; the method further includes consuming CO2 by passing the gaseous effluent through a CaO-based sorbent material, the CaO-based sorbent material capturing CO2 and forming a CaCO3-CaO-based charge; separating the CaCO3-CaO-based charge and the CO2-lean gaseous effluent, removing the CO2-lean gaseous effluent; the separated CaCO3-CaO-based charge is in contact with second flue gas to be calcined, a CaO-based adsorbent material is formed, and the second flue gas is obtained by combusting an impurity-poor fuel and an oxidizing gas composed of molecular oxygen and CO2; separating the CaO-based adsorbent material from the CO2-rich gas stream, collecting the CO2-rich gas stream; recycling the separated CaO-based sorbent material to the CO2 depletion step; the valuable fraction of the CaCO3-CaO-based charge is extracted and the new CaCO3 (29) is compensated in the calcination step.
