The invention discloses a curing agent applied to a magnesium cement product and a preparation method of the curing agent. The curing agent comprises the following components in parts by weight: 60-75 parts of a curing agent main component; 1-10 parts of an emulsifier; 1-5 parts of a penetrant; 1-5 parts of a dispersant; 10 to 20 parts of absolute ethyl alcohol; and 10 to 20 parts of water. The preparation method comprises the following steps: 1, mixing and stirring the curing agent main component, the emulsifier, the absolute ethyl alcohol and the dispersing agent in a reaction kettle, adjusting the rotating speed to be 120-150r/min, and controlling the temperature to be 30-45 DEG C; and 2, adding water and a penetrating agent into the reaction kettle, and mixing and stirring for 20-30 minutes to obtain the magnesium cement curing agent. When the curing agent is applied to the magnesium cement product, the curing agent has the characteristics of good film-forming property, high sealing and moisturizing properties, good adhesion property with the magnesium cement product and the like.
