The invention discloses a safety arresting method and system suitable for ship group lockage, and the method comprises the steps: building a group lockage fleet locking process safety braking calculation model, detecting the motor rotating speed and torque of an electric push wheel in real time, and calculating the fleet navigational speed in real time through employing an iterative algorithm according to the relevant ship scale parameters and propeller model characteristics of the fleet, thereby achieving the safety arresting of the group lockage fleet. Reckoning the latest braking time before the fleet enters the gate and stops, and gradually reducing the rotating speed of a propulsion motor by adopting a frequency converter rotating speed control mode; if the rotating speed control fails or the navigational speed still exceeds a set value after speed reduction, active arresting systems are arranged on the two sides of a lock surface away from a ship lock working gate safety braking distance, a fleet is actively decelerated and stopped in a friction braking mode, and if the navigational speed still exceeds the set value after the ship is intercepted by the active arresting systems, an anti-collision system arranged at the lower lock head of the ship lock acts; secondary arresting is carried out, and the safety of ship lock equipment and facilities and lockage ships is guaranteed; the ship can pass through the ship lock hub safely and efficiently.
