The invention provides an ecological restoration method for a waste rock discharge field. The ecological restoration method comprises the steps that S1, an impermeable layer is laid at the bottom of the waste rock discharge field; s2, coal gangue is laid on the upper surface of the impermeable layer, and a pre-grouting layer is formed; then the pre-grouting layer is filled with a slurry material, and a composite filling layer is formed after cross-linking solidification; s3, a compaction layer is laid on the upper surface of the composite filling layer; and S4, a soil layer is laid on the upper surface of the compaction layer, and green plants are planted on the upper surface of the soil layer. The filling slurry material which is excellent in water retention performance, stable in performance and good in permeability to the coal gangue layer is provided, the filling slurry material is effectively poured into gaps of the coal gangue, effective coating and cross-linking solidification are conducted on the coal gangue, and the purposes of preventing spontaneous combustion of the coal gangue and preventing heavy metal seepage are achieved; and the anti-seepage effect on heavy metal ions is improved, so that the use requirements of a waste rock discharge field can be well met.
