The preparation method comprises the steps of Si-O-C precursor sol preparation, composite forming, gel aging, supercritical drying, high-temperature cracking and the like. According to the preparation method, a substance containing a carbon element is introduced into a preparation process of the SiO2 aerogel, the SiO2 aerogel with the carbon element in chemical components is firstly prepared, then under the protection of inert gas, the carbon element is subjected to high-temperature pyrolysis, carbon atoms enter a Si-O chain structure of the SiO2 aerogel, and the temperature resistance of the SiO2 aerogel is improved to 1100 DEG C. Meanwhile, the Si-O-C aerogel is compounded with mullite fibers with the highest temperature resistance of 1400 DEG C, so that the mullite fiber compounded Si-O-C aerogel is prepared, and the problems that the Si-O-C aerogel is light in mass, fragile and incapable of being directly used as a product are solved.
