The invention provides an overhanging type protective shed and a construction method. The overhanging type protective shed comprises a first profile steel outrigger, a second profile steel outrigger and a third profile steel outrigger, the second section steel outrigger is horizontally spaced from the first section steel outrigger by a first preset distance; the combined handrail is fixedly connected with the first end parts of the first section steel outrigger and the second section steel outrigger; the profiled steel sheet is fixedly connected with the first profile steel outrigger and the second profile steel outrigger and has a preset specification; the first profile steel outrigger, the second profile steel outrigger, the combined handrail and the profiled steel sheet form a single-frame door-shaped canopy unit; and a plurality of adjacent single-truss door-shaped cantilever shed units sequentially extend out of the structural floor by a second preset distance to form the cantilever type protective shed. The protective shed is small in self load, convenient to install, easy to operate, high in applicability, capable of improving the installation and dismantling efficiency, capable of saving working hours and cost, capable of being assembled and installed in a floor, capable of eliminating suspension operation and avoiding potential safety hazards, capable of being repeatedly used and environmentally friendly.
