Aircraft onboard water supply and distribution system and method of operating such system
The invention relates to an on-board water supply and distribution system for an aircraft and a method of operating such a system. The system comprises: a central water tank; a central pump; a plurality of consumer assemblies, each consumer assembly including a supply device and configured to supply water via the supply device; and a high-pressure conduit system, the central water tank being connected to the upstream side, the high-pressure conduit system connecting the downstream side with the plurality of consumer components, the high-pressure conduit system being configured such that the central pump transports water from the downstream side to the consumer components when in operation, the method comprising the steps of: operating the central pump, causing the water in the high pressure conduit system to be pressurized to a predetermined first pressure; operating the consumable assemblies such that, in each consumable assembly, the connection between the buffer tank of the consumable assembly and the high pressure conduit system is in a closed position; monitoring the pressure in the high pressure conduit system for a predetermined first time period; and providing a first fault signal when the pressure in the high pressure conduit system drops below a predetermined second pressure for a first period of time.
