Aircraft onboard water supply and distribution system and method of operating such system
The invention relates to an on-board water supply and distribution system for an aircraft and a method of operating such a system. The system comprises: a central water tank; a central pump having an upstream side and a downstream side and conveying and pressurizing water from the upstream side to the downstream side; a plurality of consumption assemblies each including a supply device and a buffer tank, the buffer tank including a pressurizing device applying a consumption pressure to the water held therein, each consumption assembly supplying water from the buffer tank via the supply device; and a high-pressure conduit system, the central water tank connected to the upstream side, the high-pressure conduit system connecting the downstream side with the plurality of consumer components, the high-pressure conduit system causing the central pump to transport water from the downstream side to the buffer tank of each consumer component when the central pump is operated, the method comprising: operating the central pump, pressurizing water in the high pressure conduit system to a predetermined first pressure; monitoring the pressure in the high pressure conduit system for a predetermined first time period; and providing a first fault signal when the pressure drops below a predetermined second pressure for a first period of time.
