The invention relates to a water reaction type asphalt cold patch material and a preparation method thereof. The water reaction type asphalt cold patch material comprises the following components in parts by mass: 1000 parts of aggregate; 50 to 60 parts of mineral powder; the evaporation residue content of the emulsified asphalt is not less than 60.5%, the elastic recovery at 25 DEG C is not less than 93%, the composite shear modulus at 60 DEG C is not less than 10 kPa, and the dynamic viscosity at 60 DEG C is not less than 38500 Pa.s; 15 to 30 parts of a demulsifier; 1 to 10 parts of super absorbent resin; the epoxy resin is 20-40 parts, and the ratio of the curing agent to the epoxy resin is 1: 0.5-1: 2; and 5-15 parts of a self-heating component, an environment-friendly solvent and a modifier. The cold patch material is faster in curing and stronger in adhesive property. According to the water reaction type asphalt cold patch material, the characteristics of self-heating and rapid reaction are utilized, and a rapid and efficient road repairing scheme is provided under the severe weather condition. Particularly, the self-heating component and the super absorbent resin are added to adapt to low-temperature and humid conditions, so that the curing is quicker, and the adhesive property is stronger.
