The invention discloses a hollow pier cap capping construction method, which belongs to the technical field of bridge construction, and comprises the following steps of: pouring a chamfer on the inner ring of the pier top of a hollow pier, reserving a depth of 10-15cm without pouring, and pre-embedding a chamfer reinforcing rib; a prefabricated cover plate with the thickness of 15 cm is laid on the chamfers, reserved steel bars are arranged on the side wall of the periphery of the prefabricated cover plate, and chamfer reinforcing ribs and pier body vertical steel bars are welded to the reserved steel bars; concrete with the thickness of 25 cm is poured on the prefabricated cover plate, the chamfer and the pier top of the hollow pier, and a pier cap bottom formwork is formed; and after the pier cap bottom formwork is cured, a pier cap reinforcement cage is bound at the top end of the pier cap bottom formwork, and then concrete is poured to form the pier cap. The chamfer is used as a mounting space of the prefabricated cover plate, the reserved steel bars on the periphery of the prefabricated cover plate are welded with the pier body vertical steel bars and the chamfer reinforcing ribs, the prefabricated cover plate is used as a support to replace the conventional bracket and bracket construction process, the construction procedures are reduced, and the safety risk of dismounting the bracket in the later period is reduced.
