The invention relates to an A-shaped frame ladder which comprises a first telescopic ladder assembly and a second telescopic ladder assembly, and the first telescopic ladder assembly and the second telescopic ladder assembly are connected in a hinged mode. The second ladder assembly pivots about a hinge axis relative to the first ladder assembly between a straight configuration and an A configuration. The second ladder assembly is hingedly connected to a support arm at a top end thereof such that the hinge axis is in line with the ladder post member of the second ladder assembly, and the hinge axis is spaced apart from the top crosspiece of the first ladder assembly in a longitudinal direction of the ladder assembly by a first pivot distance, the second ladder assembly has a first pivot distance and is spaced apart from a top crosspiece of the second ladder assembly by a second pivot distance, wherein the second pivot distance is less than the first pivot distance.
