Aspects of the present disclosure include curved foamed aluminum sandwich structures with layered inserts. An exemplary curved foamed aluminum sandwich structure may include an inner panel, an outer panel having a through hole, and a core between the inner panel and the outer panel. The layered insert is located at a curved interface between the inner plate and the outer plate such that sidewalls of the layered insert are in direct contact with the core and the inner plate. The layered insert includes a protrusion positioned to extend through the through hole.
