Carrier for firing ceramics and method for producing such carrier
Provided are a carrier for firing a ceramic, which is capable of reducing thermal capacity by weight reduction while maintaining strength and having excellent temperature traceability, and a method for manufacturing the same. This carrier is obtained by a manufacturing method comprising: a sheet forming step (S1-S3) for forming a structure having, inside it, a porous layer S1 that contains ceramic fibers and has been made porous by sheet forming; a forming step S5 for forming the structure obtained in the sheet forming step into a predetermined shape; a coating step (S6) for impregnating the structure formed into the predetermined shape in the forming step (S5) with an impregnation liquid to form a dense layer (S2) on the outer surface of the porous layer (S1), the dense layer (S2) being denser than the porous layer (S1); and a firing step (S7) for firing the structure that has been subjected to the coating step (S6) at a predetermined temperature.
