The heat dissipation system comprises a detection mechanism, a heat dissipation mechanism and a controller; the controller is connected with the detection mechanism and the heat dissipation mechanism, receives a signal fed back by the detection mechanism and sends a control instruction to the heat dissipation mechanism to dynamically adjust the rotating speed of the fan and the opening degree of the wind shield; the method comprises the steps that feedback signals of the wheel rotating speed, the air inlet speed, the hydraulic oil temperature and the engine water temperature are received in real time, the working condition of the excavator is judged according to the signals, and a cold start heat dissipation mode or an excavation heat dissipation mode or a driving heat dissipation mode is started according to the working condition; and according to the cold start heat dissipation mode or the excavation heat dissipation mode or the driving heat dissipation mode and the air inlet speed, control instructions corresponding to the heat dissipation mechanism are generated, and the rotating speed of the fan and the opening degree of the wind shield are adjusted in a self-adaptive mode. The working condition and environment of the excavator can be sensed, the heat dissipation effect is enhanced, and meanwhile engine power loss caused by temperature rise of engine cooling water and hydraulic oil is reduced.
