The invention discloses a transmission type self-adaptive height-adjusting supporting device and method. The device comprises a support and a transmission assembly arranged between the support and a beam body. The support comprises a fixed support and a transverse movable support which are fixed on a low bridge pier, and a longitudinal movable support and a multidirectional movable support which are fixed on a high bridge pier; the connecting surface between the middle lining plate and the upper support plate of the multidirectional movable support has a gradient; the transmission assembly comprises a first transmission set arranged below the beam body, a second transmission set arranged on the upper support plate and a transmission box arranged between the beam body and the upper support plate and used for providing support for the first transmission set and the second transmission set. Transverse displacement generated by thermal expansion and cold contraction of the beam body is amplified to the upper support plate, the gradient of the inclined face is reduced, self-adaptive height adjustment between the pier and the beam body is achieved through the smaller gradient of the inclined face, and meanwhile the gradient between the middle lining plate and the upper support plate is reduced.
