The invention relates to the technical field of prefabricated column construction, and aims to provide a prefabricated concrete column and a construction method thereof. The precast concrete column is convenient to hoist, and the steel bars can be protected from deformation in the hoisting process. The precast concrete column comprises a column body, a first steel bar assembly and a steel bar protection assembly. The first steel bar assembly comprises first corner steel bars arranged at the four corners of the column body and a plurality of first connecting steel bars arranged between the first corner steel bars, and the two ends of the first corner steel bars and the two ends of the first connecting steel bars extend out of the two ends of the column body. The steel bar protection assembly is arranged at one end of the column body and comprises a connecting frame and a protection frame, the connecting frame is attached to the end face of the column body, the protection frame is provided with a clamping groove, and the two first corner steel bars and/or the first connecting steel bar arranged between the two first corner steel bars are located in the clamping groove. The problems that in the prior art, in the hoisting process of a prefabricated concrete column, a bottom end steel bar is bent and deformed, straightening repair needs to be conducted subsequently, and the workload is increased are solved.
