Pile erecting and retaining system and method
The invention relates to a pile erection and retention system and method. A system for holding a pile includes a support assembly configured to be mounted on a vessel, such as a deck of the vessel, and a pile holder. The support assembly is configured to provide compensation for wave-induced motion of the vessel to maintain a predetermined X-Y position of the pile holder. The pile holder has a central axis and is mounted on the support assembly to be tiltable relative to the support assembly about a substantially horizontal tilt axis. The pile holder has at least one ring portion comprising a ring portion structure and a plurality of pile engagement means connected to the ring portion structure of the ring portion, the plurality of pile engagement means being distributed around a circumference of the ring portion. Where the stake extends substantially vertically through the at least one loop, the substantially horizontal tilt axis of the system is located more forward, e.g., slightly more forward, than where the central axis of the stake holder is mounted from the support assembly to the vessel.

The invention relates to a pile erection and retention system and method.
