The garbage disposer comprises a grinding disc, a cleaning device is arranged in a rotating shaft of the grinding disc, the cleaning device is provided with a rotating base, the rotating base is connected with a spray head cabin through a lifting column, and a spray head and a sensor are arranged in the spray head cabin; the method comprises the steps that when the sensor detects that the grinding disc is blocked, the spray head cabin is controlled to ascend to a preset position, the spray head is controlled to extend outwards from the interior of the spray head cabin, the spray head is controlled to spray liquid with preset pressure intensity, and the rotating base is controlled to drive the spray head cabin to rotate; and the grinding disc is cleaned. The embodiment of the invention has the following advantages: automatic identification of blockage of the grinding disc and all-around automatic cleaning are realized, the grinding disc is prevented from being blocked by foreign matters for a long time, and the self-cleaning capability and the operation efficiency of the garbage processor are improved.
