According to the preparation method of the artificial graphite provided by the embodiment of the invention, the heat treatment conditions of the graphite raw material, including the heat treatment atmosphere and the state of the graphite raw material, are controlled, and at least the surface of the graphite raw material is modified, so that the compaction density of the artificial graphite powder and the formed active layer is high. The artificial graphite can be used as a negative electrode active material and applied to negative electrodes and batteries.
