The invention discloses a variable cross-section pile for a karst development site and a construction method of the variable cross-section pile. The variable cross-section pile structurally comprises an upper-section cast-in-place pile and a lower-section precast pile. The upper-section cast-in-place pile and the lower-section precast pile are arranged in the drill hole; the drilled hole comprises a prefabricated section arranged in a rock stratum and a pouring section arranged in a soil layer; the upper-section cast-in-place pile is cast in the cast-in-place section; the lower-section precast pile is accommodated in the precast section; the aperture of the pouring section is larger than that of the prefabricated section; and the lower precast pile section extends into the pouring section and is connected with the upper precast pile section. According to the structure, the lower-section precast pile is arranged in the rock stratum section and penetrates through the karst cave section, the air bags are arranged on the upper portion and the lower portion of the karst cave section correspondingly, effective sealing of the karst cave section is achieved, grouting is prevented from seeping out of the karst cave section, and meanwhile reliable stress is obtained by means of the fact that the diameter of the upper-section cast-in-place pile is larger than that of the lower-section precast pile; and normal use of the precast pile in the lower-section precast pile is ensured.
